Entries have opened for the 2014 CIHT Awards this summer and submissions will be accepted until 5pm on Friday 7 March.
The annual ceremony rewards the achievements of those working in the sector to promote professionalism and best practice.
Nominations are welcome for 11 awards covering Effective Partnerships, Health & Safety at Work, Innovation, Major Projects, Streets, Road Safety, Sustainability, Technological Application, Highway Asset Management and Excellence in Skills Development. Entries are also invited for the CIHT Young Professional Award.
Sponsorship is sought for both the Sustainability and Excellence in Skills Development categories. Award sponsors already signed up include Costain, LafargeTarmac, Ringway, Gatwick Airport, EM Highway Services, Colas and VINCI Concessions.
CIHT’s director of communications Daniel Isichei says: “Our awards are a celebration of all that is good about highways and transportation; recognising the remarkable achievements of those working in our industry. Through entering the awards, companies have a real opportunity to promote the good practice and projects they have been involved in.”

Another major date fast approaching in the Institution calendar is the inaugural CIHT National Conference, to be held at the CBI Conference Centre in London on Wednesday 19 March. The conference is titled ‘Routes to Growth’ and will discuss how developments in transport infrastructure will support recovery in the UK economy.
Speakers from across Government, the finance sector and transportation are due to address the one day conference, including representatives from the Treasury, Network Rail, the Highways Agency, local authority group ADEPT and the Highways Term Maintenance Association. The event is sponsored by LafargeTarmac.
