CIHT Members in the north east took to their bikes on 19th June for the inaugural Bike to the Beach event as part of Team Green Britain Bike Week 2010. The 35 mile ride followed the aptly named Byker Link and Hadrian's Cycleway past Segedunum Roman Fort to Tynemouth before heading up the Blyth Links Cyclepath (pictured below) which was constructed by Colas who also supplied much needed Fish and Chips.

The return leg headed inland past the National Trust's Seaton Delaval Hall and followed the waggonway network through North Tyneside back to Jesmond Dene. The route was well received despite the blustery conditions heading up the coast.
