The Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) welcomes the publication today of the Northern Transport Strategy.

Andrew Hugill, Director of Policy and Technical Affairs said:

CIHT has called for the development of a national transport strategy that considers all modes of transport and sets out how they will work and integrate together. The report today, published jointly by central and local government starts to help set that strategy.”

“Our members will be engaged in planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and operating the infrastructure that will deliver this strategy. We believe that to achieve the vision’s strategy there must also be certainty and continuity of investment over a longer period.”

“The Northern Transport Strategy also outlines a new mode of governance which sets out how a number of organisations and stakeholders can work together to deliver it. We will be looking at how we can support this regional agenda and the role to be played through the CIHT Regions.”
