DfT’s Appraisal, Modelling, and Evaluation Strategy (AMES) is receiving its first analytical update since its launch in 2019.
It will set out the Department’s priorities for improving the Transport Analysis Guidance (TAG) over the next five years, so that it better reflects the full social costs and benefits of transport schemes.
As part of the process of updating and improving TAG, DfT are seeking feedback.
Any CIHT member who would like to submit their own response, can respond to DfT’s short on-line survey here.
The Institution will also be making a corporate submission. If you would like to contribute, please send your response to the survey questions (see below) to technical@ciht.org.uk.
The recent final report of the CIHT CLIMATES initiative identified “reappraising appraisal” as a priority action for governments, academia and industry – with a view to ensuring “clear and appropriate priority is given in the appraisal process to low carbon outcomes, resilience, and adaptation, all with future wellbeing in mind”.
DfT have not placed a deadline on this survey but if you would like to contribute to the CIHT submission, please send us your views by Friday 12 September.
