Peter, who is a Fellow of CIHT and a Chartered Engineer, currently chairs CIHT’s CPD Panel, as well as being a CPD assessor, a member of the CIHT Self-Assessment Panel and a professional reviewer for CIHT and other professional engineering institutions. Peter has been responsible for reviewing nearly 1,000 candidates over his career and for bringing many professionally registered Chartered Engineers, Incorporated Engineers, and Engineering Technicians into CIHT and the sector. 

Peter Hallsworth said, “I have always tried to support CIHT and hope to continue in the future. Having those efforts appreciated in the award of the Certificate of Merit by CIHT is really satisfying. and, as my daughter said, "isn't it nice to know you are appreciated". Everyone has something to contribute to the Institution and I encourage everyone to actively make their contribution, it is always appreciated.”

Damian Meehan, Technical Director at WSP, nominated Peter for the Certificate of Merit. When asking Damian about his nomination he said:“Peter’s dedication to CIHT is obvious and he personifies the values and standards that it stands for. I can think of no better person than Peter to receive the Certificate of Merit as recognition for all his support. The award is nothing more than he deserves, and I was delighted to nominate Peter for this award. Thanks to Behrooz Saghafi and the CIHT North West Regional team who helped to orchestrate the award ceremony”.

Nominees must meet the criteria for either an exceptionally high commitment to a region or regions as an office holder over a period of many years, or making a major contribution to the Institution's operation in matters such as recruitment of members, exceptional service to the Council, developing a new service to members, etc.
