Senior transportation professionals are being offered a simple route to becoming qualified as a Chartered Manager following a partnership agreement between CIHT and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI).
CIHT members who hold CEng, IEng or Transport Planning Professional qualifications with five years or more of management experience are now eligible for CMI’s ‘qualified route’ to becoming a Chartered Manager (CMgr).
This is the highest management qualification and is recognised throughout the public and private sectors, across all management disciplines. The qualified route is a review of an applicant’s personal skills and expertise in leading people and managing change.
CIHT’s chief executive Sue Percy said: “Our members are often required to demonstrate a high level of management skill in the course of their work.
“I’m delighted that our professional registrants will have the opportunity to gain recognition for this management expertise through CMI’s prestigious Chartered Manager qualification.”
Members who demonstrate management competence to the required level will be able to use the post nominal letters CMgr to enhance their professional standing. They will also gain access to CMI’s knowledge resources to support their continuing professional development as managers.
CMI chief executive Ann Francke commented: “Management and leadership are vital in delivering the nation’s transportation, which is why I am delighted that we are working in partnership with CIHT.
“Qualifying as a Chartered Manager confirms management and leadership credentials and will increase their confidence to deliver success. Not only will that benefit them personally, but also there are huge advantages for employers in having better managers and confident leaders who achieve results.”
Members are welcome to participate in a free webinar on 21 March that will explain the CMgr qualification in more detail.
