The South East Region hosted its inaugural annual dinner at the Hilton Newbury Centre on Friday 30^th October, attracting over 100 attendees.

Chairman Bob Pizzey welcomed the President, honoured guests, sponsors and all, and outlined much of the work being actioned by his colleagues on the new Committee. This included, amonst other work, the organisation of the Regions well attended technical events “Planning for Cycling” with Professor John Parking from the University of the West of England, and "City-HUBs Urban Transport Interchanges" with Derek Palmer from TRL.

President Dr Sue Sharland spoke about her key themes for her presidential term of office. She expressed that the profession should place great emphasis upon developing the role of ITS and innovation in taking transport infrastructure and travel demand management forward. Sue felt this is an area that the CIHT and its membership could make a considerable contribution towards  in the coming years.

The night was a great success, and the event’s raffle and generosity of those who attended raised over £855 through the course of the evening for the local charity “Eight Bells for Mental Health”.
