We are excited to share the recent accomplishments SoRSA and give you a preview of what’s planned for the coming year. Below are some snippets from the newsletter, you can follow the link to the newsletter in full.
Publications & Webinars
Our Chair, Libby Sands, published "A History of Road Safety Audit", which details the creation of SoRSA and the evolution of road safety audit processes. We have also conducted webinars focusing on STATS19 UK collision data collection and road safety audit methodologies.
Events & Workshops
SoRSA has continued to deliver in-person CPD events and supported other activities, including providing speakers at the East Midlands Road Safety Workshop and Graham Feest and Passively Safety UK conferences.
SoRSA has continued to lead the way organising a comprehensive road safety workshop in Queensferry, Scotland, and successfully executing another flagship workshop and conference in Manchester in June.
As well as delivering events, SoRSA have also been working closely with other groups, engaging in discussions with the CIHT Bus Centre of Excellence and being attending the International Road Federation and PIARC conferences.
Plus, collaborating with Motorcycle Law Scotland to deliver Road Safety Road Shows targeting cyclists and motorcyclists, participated in Police Scotland’s Traffic Management Course.

Webinars & Engagements
In the new year, SoRSA will continue to deliver more webinars focusing on road safety audit and engineering, with plans to collaborate with CIHT Northern Ireland and Transport Infrastructure Ireland to present at events in Belfast and Athlone.
Major Events
Our flagship event will be back for 2026, keep an eye out for the SoRSA Workshop and Conference 2026. the conference will be returning to the Radisson Blu, Manchester Airport, and you can save the dates for your diary - 22nd and 23rd June 2026.
If there are events or areas that you want SoRSA to explore, we are open for suggestions on potential areas for workshops from our members.
At the most recent SoRSA Committee meeting on 4th December, John Barrell was presented with Honorary Fellowship, Hon. FSORSA, by Current Chair Libby Sands. We also said bye to Chris Flattery, CIHT Regional Engagement Officer, who moves on to new opportunities.

We want to advise our membership that the annual review is set to take place during February & March 2026. During this period, a random selection of approximately 10% of the membership will be asked to provide a full submission for review, in addition to the general online submission. Further details will follow in the New Year.
