North West Region held their Annual Awards Dinner on 28 April at the Park Royal Hotel, Warrington. President Steve Rowsell, with his wife Liz, joined Regional Chair Hayley Palmer, with husband Greg, and almost 200 guests. Following an excellent meal, Awards were presented to Balfour Beatty Mott MacDonald (Safety Project of the Year for Clarendon Footbridge), Kier Highways (Environmental/Sustainability Award for 'Pitt' Flood Mitigation Schemes & Best Practice Award for Hot-on-Hot Paving) and Warrington Borough Council (Transportation Project of the Year for Birchwood Pinchpoint).
Hill farmer Peter Slack then regaled the audience with his humorous, interesting and true observations of visitors to the countryside and their interaction with the farming community.

Earlier in the day the President enjoyed a visit to the iconic Mersey Gateway, a 2.3km, six-lane, cable-stayed bridge spanning the Mersey and Manchester Ship Canal. Due for completion in the Autumn, more details can be found at www.merseygateway.co.uk.
