From 11 - 13 March, as part of National Science and Engineering Week, CIHT, including members from the North West Branch took part in the Big Bang Fair, a mix of exciting shows and workshops encompassing the entire science and engineering spectrum.

Taking place at Manchester Central, the fair provided information for students who are interested in starting a career in science and engineering. The fair featured displays and demonstrations of leading-edge technology, workshops and a special exhibition to showcase inspirational projects.

CIHT was on hand to offer guidance and advice to students and to encourage the growth of new talent within the engineering industry. This year featured an open day on the Saturday where parents could bring along their children to experience the event.

CIHT’s Director of Education & Membership, Sue Stevens said:

“Most students have no idea how varied the job opportunities are within engineering and how important engineers are to society.  The Big Bang Fair is an excellent way of capturing young people’s attention and imagination and encouraging them to think seriously about a career in engineering.”
