CIHT launched its Professional Development Framework in September 2020 to support Highways & Transportation sector-based companies develop their employees and set them on a path to acquiring the globally recognised professional qualifications of CEng, IEng, EngTech, & CTPP.
Since the launch, market leaders, global brands, and UK local councils, including WSP, Kier Highways, Southwark Council, Project Centre, and AECOM, have all signed up to realise the benefits of the CIHT Framework.
Lin Harrington, HCC Learning & Organisational Development Manager at WSP’s said: “The ongoing professional development of our employees has always been a high priority at WSP, I am really excited about rolling out the CIHT Development Framework within WSP. Providing more structure to the initial development of a person’s professional career can help them stay motivated and keep on track as they work towards becoming incorporated or chartered engineers”.
Graeme Lake, Highways Asset Manager at Southwark Council said: “We are very pleased to have signed up to the CIHT Professional Development Framework. The CIHT Professional Development Framework is more suited to our engineer's needs and can be flexible enough to be applied to our technicians (working towards Eng Tech) and our engineers working towards either IEng or CEng qualifications. Signing up has also encouraged more employees to begin gaining professional engineering and transport planning qualifications.”
The Framework is an on-line training and development system that allows Members to record their knowledge and experience gained at work and then benchmark their progress against recognised standards. The CIHT Framework is the only Highways & Transportation based Framework that supports an employee's development towards CEng, IEng, EngTech, or CTPP.
It has been designed and approved by CIHT, the Engineering Council and our partner organisations within the sector. The Framework supports an employee's development, raises the standards within an organisation, helps them stand out to clients when bidding for work and makes them more appealing to new talent pools; all while increasing retention and job satisfaction for existing employees.
The CIHT Framework is highly competitive based against competing Framework’s (structurally and financially) and is based on a One-Off payment licence fee per candidate, which covers them for the duration of their time on the Framework.
Fees range from £350 for our Public Sector Partners to £600 for Non-Partners. We welcome the opportunity to demonstrate the Framework to companies in the Highways & Transportation Sector looking for a scheme to help their employees get professionally qualified.
