Over 230 delegates attended the CIHT National Conference in London to discuss
Managing Transport in an Uncertain World: The Future for People, Places and Infrastructure.
Representatives from across the private and public sector came together to hear how the management of transport will help define the future for the UK’s people, places and infrastructure.
Through keynote speakers and a series of workshops, the conference gave highways and transportation practitioners the opportunity to understand the issues and contribute to providing certainty in an uncertain world.

Dr Susan Sharland, CIHT President said:
“This event has given an insight into not only the importance of transport networks to people’s lives; it has also shown that how we build and maintain our infrastructure to how people travel in the future will potentially change dramatically.”

•People - exploring how technology will help understand customer needs and shape the planning of transport networks.
•Places - showing how we can create better places that will improve liveability, health and the economy.
•Growth - highlighting how transport planning needs to be at the heart of enabling economic and housing growth.
•Infrastructure – discussing how clients and providers are using technology and innovation to manage and operate our networks more effectively.
•Skills - focusing on thechallenges facing the sector and how we can find and develop the people needed to manage and deliver the UK’s transport network.
