By signing up to the charter, Transport Scotland has agreed to work with CIHT to actively champion diversity and work against racism and discrimination in all its forms within the transport sector.

Roy Brannen, Chief Executive at Transport Scotland, said: ‘As the National Transport agency for Scotland, we understand the importance of tackling inequalities and improving inclusivity, whether that’s through our transport system, our workforce or our supply chain.

‘In 2019, we became CIHT’s first ever Public Sector Partner and so I’m pleased to strengthen our relationship by signing up to the charter, further demonstrating our commitment to improving equality, diversity and inclusion in how we undertake our business.’

As a signatory, Transport Scotland is committed to:

  • striving for best practice in our recruitment, retention and career progression practices as an employer
  • supporting the development of diversity and inclusion protocols and practice
  • collating and sharing best practice, regularly engaging with CIHT and the other signatories
  • recognising, respecting and celebrating the contributions from our people to strengthen performance

Sue Stevens, Director of Membership and Education at CIHT, said:

‘We can only make progress on diversity and inclusion if employers and key stakeholders in the sector work together, so It’s great to welcome Transport Scotland as the latest signatory to CIHT’s Diversity & Inclusion Charter. To have Transport Scotland’s input into this important area of work will be hugely valuable going forward.’

Transport Scotland senior leaders will regularly review their performance against these commitments.
