Infrastructure and programme management company CH2M Hill is on a drive to hire 500 new staff at all levels over the next year, many of them in transportation.
The US operation bought leading UK based global consultant Halcrow in November 2011 and the move marks the next phase in building on the benefits of creating a combined business.
The firm will also be offering 40 new graduate level positions as well as 30 apprenticeships and 30 paid internships. Total investment in the UK for 2013 will be £65M.
CH2M Hill currently employs over 3,300 people in the UK and has its European headquarters in London. Worldwide the employee owned company turns over £4.6Bn and has 30,000 staff.
In Britain it is working on some of the most challenging infrastructure projects of the moment including High Speed 2 and Crossrail in the transport field as well as the Thames Tideway improvements for Thames Water and decommissioning of Dounreay in the nuclear field. The company was the “C” in the CLM joint venture that acted as delivery partner for London’s Olympic Delivery Authority.
Chairman and chief executive officer of CH2M Hill Lee McIntire (pictured) said: “With the British government’s clear commitment to deliver new infrastructure and renew aging infrastructure, I am hopeful we will be able to build on this investment today and in the years ahead.”
The move was welcomed by Business Secretary Vince Cable who said: “The creation of 500 new jobs is a considerable investment and a great vote of confidence for the highly skilled engineers here in Britain.”
