The MSc Transport Engineering and Planning has been running at UWE since 2014 and a number of alumni from the course have gone on to achieve Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP). Retaining the TPP approval means graduates meet the knowledge requirements for the TPP qualification and can follow in the footsteps of their alumni and take the standard route to Professional Review.

The TPP qualification recognises the high levels of skill and experience of transport planners and is jointly awarded by the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation and the Transport Planning Society.  Candidates must demonstrate their competence in a broad range of professional and technical transport planning skills. Successful candidates can register as Chartered Transport Planning Professionals (CTPP), recognising their professional achievement against this distinguished benchmark.

Nick Ruxton-Boyle, Chair of the TPP Professional Standards Committee said, “We continue to be impressed with the course and how it prepares students in emerging themes such as data and climate change for their transport planning roles in the public and private sector, and continuing their career development towards professional qualification.”

Dr Ben Clark, programme leader for the course said “A key aim of our course is to develop post-graduates that are well prepared for professional practice.  The programme builds knowledge of transport planning best practice and develops the strong communication, analytical and critical thinking skills that are needed to tackle the major challenges of our time, like decarbonizing transport systems. Our graduates are highly valued by employers and we are delighted that this has been recognized by the Transport Planning Professional Standards Committee.
