This national award celebrates excellence among newly registered female Engineering Technicians and recognises their contribution to the engineering profession. Each year, participating Professional Engineering Institutions like CIHT can nominate one outstanding candidate who has demonstrated technical ability, commitment to professional development, and advocacy for women in engineering. The winner will receive a £500 prize and will be announced at the Caroline Haslett Lecture and Awards Ceremony on 16 December 2025 in London.

Manon achieved EngTech registration through CIHT in November 2024 and was nominated by her reviewers for the award following her successful professional review and her outstanding contribution to highways and transportation engineering, Manon said:

“I am so proud to have been shortlisted for this award and absolutely delighted to be recognised for my achievement. There is a desperate shortage of women in the world of engineering, and it will be fantastic to meet some of the other women in the industry at the awards ceremony and celebrate our successes.”

Cat Goumal, Head of Education and Professional Development at CIHT, added:

“We are thrilled to see Manon recognised on a national stage. Her achievement highlights the importance of professional registration and the incredible impact that Engineering Technicians have in shaping the future of transport. At CIHT, we are committed to supporting women in engineering and celebrating role models like Manon who inspire others to progress in their careers.”

The WES EngTech Award aims to strengthen links between WES and professional institutions, raise the profile of women engineers, and encourage progression through all levels of registration. It highlights the importance of Engineering Technician status and the vital role technicians play in delivering safe, sustainable infrastructure.

CIHT provides a range of support and routes for members wanting to gain professional registration.
