What you can expect from CIHT in 2022

22nd Nov 2021

In the face of many challenges and opportunities over the past two years, we have continued to expand our range of activities to extend our scope and influence, embrace different aspects of integrated transport and offer you more resources including improved support for your professional and career development. We have learned that we are resilient and, more importantly, we can adapt rapidly to shifting priorities in a still uncertain world by reaching out and remaining relevant to the needs of our members

Increasing use of technology has been a feature of our work during this period and I am pleased to announce that we will be launching CIHT Learn in early 2022 offering online courses, training and the ability to record your CPD. CIHT Learn will allow you to undertake professional learning and development at your convenience in short bitesize chunks that can fit around home and work. Initial courses available will include Carbon Literacy, Equality Diversity and Inclusion, and Professional Ethics.

You will also now receive free access to 50-plus CIHT (regional and national) webinars, which originally had an individual member attendance fee. CIHT Options, our exclusive money-saving and discount scheme, has a range of new offers every month and can save you up to £600 a year.

2022 will also see the launch of a new and improved Transportation Professional journal with additional accessible content and features in response to members’ requests to see an enhanced offering. In addition, we are reviewing our member services and will be launching other new benefits in 2022.

CIHT will be moving forward with how it works with members to develop knowledge through increased policy development and technical outputs. This work will include updated technical guidance, including Manual for Streets, and increased levels of discussion documents, whitepapers and thought leadership.

We will shortly be launching our new CIHT Strategy 2022+ that will outline the core strategic objectives of the Institution over the next few years. By continuing to work together we can make your voice heard in Government, education, business and with all our stakeholders.

CIHT will continue to show leadership on the key issue of climate action. This will include our project on the “Route to Net Zero” and embedding CIHT’s ‘Climate Change Pledge’. These projects are just some of the ways we are supporting the sector and you, our members, to meet the challenge of net zero and the challenging carbon reduction targets which are defining the careers of this and future generations of transportation professionals.

A priority for CIHT in 2022 remains the equality, diversity and inclusion agenda with the publication of our EDI strategy and five-year supporting action plan. We believe in the power of inclusion and a commitment to making a difference through remaining a key influencer of the EDI agenda across the transport and infrastructure sector.

We are looking forward to bringing you another year of support, professional development and exciting changes for CIHT. I hope that you will continue your membership with us next year and take full advantage of everything CIHT has to offer.

Sue Percy CBE
Chief Executive
