On Friday 28th September the Yorkshire and The Humber region held their Annual Awards Dinner Dance at The Hilton Leeds City. The event was attended by over 130 members and guests.

The Chair, Andy Burton welcomed everyone before introducing his chosen charity, Life For A Kid, a local Hull charity who support children and their families who have various needs that are not available on the NHS. Alisa Tomlinson, parent of one of the children who has been helped by the charity gave a moving address which was followed by a short video featuring her daughter.
The evening raised £315 for the charity through voluntary donations in exchange for our complimentary raffle.

Following a well-received meal the Chair and Institution President, Matthew Lugg gave addresses, these were followed by the awards ceremony which was presented by committee member Rob McCartney.
The region gives four awards and the results were:
CIHT/WSP Apprentice of The Year:
Winner – Charlene Wortley of SCP
Highly Commended – Joe Boreham of Ringway
Charlene was presented her trophy by CIHT President Matthew Lugg representing the sponsor WSP
CIHT/Colas Young Professional of The Year:
Winner – Thomas Howard of Highways England
Commended – Clare Linton of Urban Transport Group
Thomas was presented his trophy by Michael Holmes representing the sponsor Colas
CIHT/C R Civil Engineering Small Project of The Year:
Winner - TfN Journey Time Tool – Jacobs
Highly Commended – Wakefield Road, Brighouse Widening – SCP
Jacobs were presented their award by Jamie Willis representing the sponsor C R Civil Engineering
CIHT/Scantec Large Project of The Year:
Winner – A1 Leeming to Barton – Highways England
Highly Commended – River Witham Bridge Reconstruction – TSP Projects
Commended – A629 Salter Hebble to Shaw Hill – Calderdale Council

The evening was completed with dancing to a DJ and networking.
