Zenzic was originally launched in 2017 under the name Meridian Mobility UK. It was created by government and industry to focus on key areas of UK capability in the global connected and self-driving sector. Government and industry have committed an initial £200 million through Zenzic to develop a coordinated national platform of Connected and Automated Mobility (CAM) testing infrastructure. Zenzic has now launched their Connected and Automated Mobility Roadmap to 2030. In the report Zenzic's 2030 Vision is presented which sets out the aspiration of where the UK needs to be and what benefits to be realised by 2030. Two core benefits underpin the 2030 vision: societal benefits and industrial productivity. These are informed in part by the Department for Transport's 'Future of Mobility: Urban Strategy'.

The roadmap has been developed on the back of research and a number of workshops carried out with a wide range of stakeholders. The aim of the roadmap is to identify the path to get the UK to a future of connected and automated mobility. This is just the first version of the roadmap and Zenzic will continue to update and refresh it. CIHT will be working with Zenzic to help inform and shape the future of the roadmap. CIHT Director of Policy and Technical Affairs, Andrew Hugill, said:

Effective planning and delivery of Infrastructure needs clarity of what is required and certainty of resource – the roadmap will help all involved to put both in place.

CIHT wants to have our members input as we develop our partnership with Zenzic and contribute to shaping the future in this space. If you are a CIHT member please get in touch with your thoughts on the roadmap and the Connected and Automated Mobility agenda in general at technical@ciht.org.uk
