CPD Assessor Role

CPD assessors play a vital role in supporting our members’ development and long-term career journey by providing feedback and guidance to ensure their learning is intentionally aligned with their personal and professional goals. CPD is central to how our members maintain, improve and broaden their knowledge, skills and experience throughout their career. At its finest, CPD is a reflective, planned and ongoing process that ensures individuals remain competent and effective practitioners who remain capable of responding to emerging challenges, technologies, and priorities within the sector.

Annual CPD audit

CIHT members are expected to plan, record and reflect on their CPD throughout the year. Each year, CIHT audits a random sample of members, and those selected are asked to submit their CPD record and Development Action Plan (DAP) for review. As a volunteer CPD assessor, you will be reviewing submissions and offering constructive feedback and guidance to other members. This key role supports our vital quality assurance process and supports a culture of lifelong learning.

The role

CIHT wants to work with professional qualified members (CEng, IEng, EngTech, CTPP) who can help support CIHT’s Strategic Priorities by:
·    Supporting and promoting high-quality CPD
·    Encouraging reflective practice and professional growth
·    Helping to maintain Engineering Council registration standards
·    Supporting CIHT’s ambition to inspire professionalism throughout the sector

About you

This role will suit professionally registered members with a strong commitment to CPD, a desire to share knowledge and experience with other members, and willingness to provide an input for the improvement of CIHT CPD processes.

Registrants reviewing registrants

To ensure fairness and relevance, CPD submissions from professionally registered members (EngTech, IEng, CEng, or CTPP) are reviewed by assessors who hold the same or a higher level of registration; this ensures peer-led quality assurance.

What current CPD assessors say

“Being a member of the CPD Panel has been invaluable in my own self-awareness of the importance of CPD. By participating in the panel, you can give back to society and the sector, contribute to and shape the direction of the CIHTs CPD offering and improve many of your own soft skills. The experience has also opened opportunities for networking and business development and has facilitated a support network with my peers. So, rather than asking ‘if/why’, ask ‘why not’!”
