Become a mentor with CIHT

Mentoring is a flexible way for someone with experience to share what they know to help someone else grow in their career. A mentor can help their mentee spot any gaps in their knowledge or experience, and support them in planning the right activities to build their skills. This can be especially useful when working towards a specific goal, such as achieving a professional qualification or moving up to the next career level.

CIHT Mentoring

With the introduction of General Mentoring, CIHT Mentoring is now open to ALL members.

Whether you are working towards a professional registration with the Engineering Council UK or as a Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP), or wanting to offer and receive mentoring support focused on career development, the CIHT Mentoring platform is the best place to start.

As a CIHT mentor, you’ll offer advice, guidance and encouragement to your mentee as they work towards their goals and help them to understand what knowledge, skills and experience they need.

Register as a Mentor

CIHT Mentoring platform is designed to help you to connect with potential mentees and get the best out of a mentoring relationship. The first step is to register on the CIHT Mentoring platform.

Your Mentor Profile

Once registered, the next step is to complete your profile. The information you provide will help us to better match you to mentees who are looking for your skills and experience. Please make sure you indicate the qualifications and routes that you can help with.

If you are already signed into the CIHT website you will be automatically signed in, otherwise you just need to enter your CIHT username and password.

How does it work?

CIHT Mentoring has been designed to make finding, connecting and communicating with a mentor as easy as possible. The platform allows mentees to search for mentors who would be the best match for them and the experience they are looking for.

Mentors can choose to accept or decline requests from mentees and can switch their availability for mentoring on and off.

CIHT mentoring has an inbuilt meeting tool that allows you to arrange meetings, set agendas, record meeting notes, and action points and a video chat tool to enable you to conduct virtual meetings from within the platform.

Benefits of Becoming a Mentor

Mentoring can be an incredibly rewarding experience and mentors can derive a great deal of satisfaction from contributing to the success of others.
