We’re looking for a Digital Communications & Content Officer to play a key role in delivering engaging, high-quality content across our website and digital channels.

About the role

This is a hands-on role focused on creating and delivering content that informs, engages and grows our audiences.

You will take a lead role in managing the day-to-day editorial delivery of the CIHT website, alongside creating compelling content for social media and digital channels. Working closely with colleagues across the organisation, you will help ensure that our content supports CIHT’s strategic priorities, membership growth and public profile.

About the job

What you'll be doing

Website content and digital publishing

  • Manage and update CIHT’s website content, ensuring it is accurate, engaging and up to date
  • Plan, write, edit and publish web-first content including news, blogs, events and organisational updates
  • Upload and format content within our CMS (Umbraco), applying basic SEO and accessibility good practice
  • Work with colleagues across CIHT to identify and develop content opportunities
  • Help improve content structure, clarity and user journeys

  • Content creation and storytelling
  • Produce high-quality written content for website, newsletters and campaigns
  • Source and shape content from internal teams, members and partners
  • Manage editorial calendars and deliver content to agreed deadlines
  • Ensure all content reflects CIHT’s tone of voice, values and EDI commitments

Social media and digital channels

  • Create and schedule engaging content across CIHT’s social media platforms
  • Support the day-to-day management of social channels
  • Monitor engagement and performance, using insight to improve future content
  • Identify opportunities to amplify CIHT activity and campaigns

Wider communications support

  • Contribute to newsletters and stakeholder communications
  • Provide first-line support for website/content queries internally
  • Support wider communications and marketing activity as required

About you

You will be an organised, proactive communicator with strong writing and digital content skills.

Essential

  • Experience in a communications, digital content or similar role
  • Excellent writing, editing and proofreading skills
  • Experience managing or updating website content using a CMS (preferred Umbraco)
  • Experience creating content for social media platforms
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Good attention to detail and editorial judgement

Desirable

  • Understanding of SEO and digital accessibility
  • Experience using analytics or performance data to improve content
  • Experience working in a membership, charity or not-for-profit organisation
  • Familiarity with email or newsletter platforms

Additional information

  • Occasional UK travel may be required, including overnight stays
