Scottish Highways and Transportation Heritage Register

This register has been created by volunteers who have a passion for highways and transportation heritage in Scotland. This resource is open to interested members of the public and fellow professionals to publicise and celebrate places of interest that could be on your doorstep but you never knew!

The resource contains an interactive map detailing places of interest across Scotland. This is populated through the members interest and nominations from users across three categories:

  • Asset - a physical asset that is important, for example a bridge or tunnel,
  • Person – someone who has left an important legacy in Highways and Transportation but recognising a location that is associated with them
  • Place - place where a significant event occurred

Each year, we will select a “Site of the year” for special recognition from nominations in that year.
