South East Young Professionals Presentation Competition

The competition eligibility is as follows:

  • Entry is open to any Young Professional living or working in the area covered by the CIHT South East region and are CIHT members.
  • Young Professionals are considered to be those within the first 10 years of their career.
  • Apprentices are particularly encouraged to apply. An active CIHT Apprentice Membership is free.
  • Presenters are required to have an active CIHT membership.

Entrants will be required to produce a 1-minute video based on their presentation topic which will be submitted with their application. Also, entrants will be required to send a profile photograph which will be used for the event promotion.

How can you attend?

All CIHT South East members are invited to register to watch the presentations and may submit written questions via the Q&A facility. The event will precede the CIHT South East 2021 AGM and is a great oppurtunity to also get an update on future CIHT South East activity.

Competition & Award

Selected entrants will be invited to prepare a 10 minute presentation a project they have worked on, an interesting aspect of their job (particularly if their job is in some way unique), a technical innovation, a research project, or some more general issue, such as how to attract people to the profession. It is not restricted to engineering focused topics or new research.

This will then be followed by up to 5 minutes to answer questions from the judging panel.

The judging panel will be formed by Martin Tugwell (CIHT President), Deborah Sims (CIHT Senior Vice President), Steve Haggett (CIHT South East Chair) and Katerina Georgiou (CIHT South East Young Professional Chair). Candidates will be assessed on the basis of their content, presentation style and ability to answer questions.

The winner will receive a £100 voucher with a prize voucher of £50 for the runner ups.
