Steve has 33 years’ experience as a Chartered Civil Engineer in the water, highways and transport. He is currently Drainage Design Team leader for Kier Highways on Area 3 ASC contract for Highways England. He is responsible for all flood and water quality and drainage investigation and improvement studies, and detailed designs for drainage works on the motorway and trunk road network in Area 3.
His professional experience includes flood risk management, flood alleviation measures, building drainage design and project management of a wide range of infrastructure for highways, structures, clean and waste water treatment works and sewerage.
He has served 15 years on the CIHT Branch and regional committees and is currently Chair of the South East Region. Steve's business, South Coast Civil Engineering Ltd., has provided technical resources to Surrey and Hampshire County Councils, including Lead Local Flood Risk Authority (LLFA) duties such as consenting of SuDS proposals for planning applications, staff training and the development of a 1.8km flood alleviation culvert for the village of Hambledon. His main duty is as Design Manager on major projects such as M27 Junction 5 Phase 3 being a £1.9m lane widening of east and west bound slip roads onto the M27. His experience also includes working in overseas locations in Western Europe, Ireland and the Middle East.
Nadine is a Principal Transport Planner at Mott MacDonald where she crunches numbers developing transport models and carrying out value for money assessments.
Besides her day job she has been championing Mott MacDonald's Equality, Diversity and Inclusion network 'Advance' since its launch. Nadine is also a registered STEM ambassador supporting local schools and providing STEM career advice.
As the Communications Officer of the CIHT South East Regional committee Nadine is in charge of promoting the CIHT South East via social media channels on Twitter and LinkedIn.
Katerina is a Civil Engineer at Amey consulting. A BSc and MSc Graduate in Civil Engineering; Katerina has 5 years of experience within the industry, which has mainly focused on highway maintenance. She gained her IEng status in October 2018 with the CIHT and is now working towards CEng. Also, recently, Katerina accepted the role of the CIHT Young Professional Representative for the South East Region in England
Katerina started working for Amey as a Graduate Engineer and a member of the Roads Maintenance Design team, on the 4th Generation South East Scottish Tunk Road Unit contract (Transport Scotland). After the completion of the 2-year graduate scheme she was promoted to Assistant Engineer and became a team leader, managing a team of Apprentices, Technicians and Graduate Engineers.
Currently, she is undertaking projects for the maintenance of the trunk road network (Areas 10, 13 and 14) on behalf of Highways England. Since January 2020, Katerina has also became a member of the Amey’s Aviation Infrastructure team. She works on civil and military airport projects, carrying out safeguarding, planning and civil designs to accommodate the airports’ needs.
A Chartered Engineer with over 25 years’ experience in road safety engineering, highway design, asset management and maintenance. Deborah is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Engineering at the University of Greenwich at Medway. Her teaching includes Project Management & Appraisal, Engineering Professional Skills, Construction Management & Technology, and Highway Engineering.
She is the Programme Leader for the Civil Engineering Degree Apprenticeship, Engineering Employability Champion, Placements Officer, and a member of the Civil Engineering Industrial Advisory Board. Deborah is a STEM Ambassador and chaired the Careers Guidance Steering Group for the CIHT, developing materials for use in schools and colleges to encourage young people to consider careers in the built environment. Deborah is a Professional Reviewer and Mentor, having reviewed over 80 CEng and IEng candidates. She is a Trustee of Chatham Maritime Trust and of CIHT.
Fiona is a transport planner with 15 years' experience and an interest in the areas of sustainable mobility and travel behaviour change. With experience in both the private and public sectors, she currently works as a Programme Manager in the Neighbourhoods and Networks team at Sustrans – the walking and cycling charity.
Fiona leads on a wide range of transport planning and infrastructure improvement projects which make it easier for people to get around by active travel modes. She is a highly experienced project manager, recently working on the delivery of several Quietway cycle routes across London for TfL. As the London coordinator for the national Bike Life research project, she works closely with the London Borough of Tower Hamlets, helping to produce this detailed snapshot of cycle data for the first time. She is also currently responsible for overseeing the production of a Network Development Plan for the National Cycle Network (NCN) in London.
Fiona has been a member South East region’s committee since 2016, represents the region at Regional Panel meetings and now sits on the CIHT Council.
Shaun is experienced in the planning, design and management of development and infrastructure projects across all sectors of the industry.
With over 20 years’ experience working for major global consulting engineers Shaun has gained both office and site experience in highway and infrastructure planning, engineering and design, specialising in highways and drainage, including flood risk management and SuDS.
A Fellow of the CIHT and Member of the ICE he recently joined the CIHT South East Region committee becoming Secretary in 2019.
As a Director and founding member of Abley Letchford Partnership, Shaun has been instrumental in growing the business, both organically, through increased client base, and internally though staff recruitment and office environment. He encourages all staff members to join an Institution and seek career progression though active Institute involvement.
Stuart has been active with the CIHT since 2006 when he was a Committee Member and subsequently the Chair for two years at the former Thames and Chilton Branch. He has continued as A committee Member with the South East region and until june 2019 was the regional Council Member on National Council.
Stuart is currently a Director on the CIHT Appian Trading Board and also sits on the Urban Design Panel. Stuart was awarded the CIHT’s Certificate of Merit in October 2018.
Stuart is currently Chairman and Director at Consulting Engineers, Stuart Michael Associates , which he founded in 1988 . The multi disciplinary company celebrated 31 years in business in May 2019. Apart from the CIHT and SMA commitments ,Stuart is a member of the Thames Valley Berkshire LEP strategic transport board/forum.
When finding spare time he enjoys cycling, walking ,golf , theatre and travelling . He is married and lives with his wife,Lesley, in Newbury,Berkshire.
