We have an exciting opportunity for a Fixed Term, Full Time role as Highway Infrastructure Manager to join the Highways and Traffic Management Service of Southampton City Council (SCC).

About the role:

The primary duty of this post will be the lead of a new major Electric Vehicle (EV) and highways infrastructure project for the city and manage the principal contractor. The post will be responsible for the operation of SCC owned EV infrastructure and new initiatives to promote the change to EV.

Some of your other duties may include:

  1. Assist in the management of the highway network and the assets within it like, structures, ITS, street furniture, adoptions, MTE and dropped crossings.
  2. Manage enquires with members of the public, Councillors, and Members of Parliament, in regards to highways and EV infrastructure.
  3. Support the development of policies and strategies that meet the councils cooperate plans and ambitions.

The successful candidate will need to be:

  1. Highly experienced project manager with focus on infrastructure projects.
  2. Be able to put in place and use programme management systems, including financial reporting processes, data bases, project monitoring, and other systems to support the project success and ensure consistent accurate reporting to senior management and stakeholders
  3. Experienced with managing large programmes with complex project management characteristics, effectively and efficiently, on-time and to budget in politically sensitive environments.
  4. Good knowledge of highways work and the best practices and specifications of excavations, installation, and reinstatement on the highway.
  5. Good understanding of CDM regulations.

 It would also be desirable if you had:

  1. Detailed and current technical knowledge of EV chargers and EV Infrastructure, including implementation and pitfalls. 
  2. Qualified in EVI management

Salary: The salary band for this role is grade 11, The starting salary is £52,413 with annual progression through the salary band up to £58,865.
