Are you an experienced Roads and Transportation professional looking for an opportunity to influence the future development and management of critical infrastructure services?

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Roads Advisor (Scope and Standards) to join our Infrastructure & Transportation team. In this key leadership role, you will provide professional engineering expertise and strategic advice to support the effective delivery of roads and infrastructure services across the area.

As part of a dynamic management team, you will play a leading role in ensuring the highest standards of design, asset management and infrastructure development while supporting the delivery of Council priorities and providing excellent outcomes for residents, businesses and visitors.

About the Role

Reporting to the Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for the effective management of roads and infrastructure design advisory services, ensuring services are delivered efficiently, safely and in line with legislative requirements, industry standards and best practice.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing professional engineering, technical and legislative advice on roads and transportation matters.
  • Supporting major infrastructure projects, planning applications and development proposals.
  • Leading the development and implementation of policies, standards and improvement initiatives.
  • Managing contracts, consultants and contractors to ensure quality service delivery and compliance with specifications.
  • Contributing to strategic asset management planning and investment programmes.
  • Managing budgets, monitoring expenditure and supporting the efficient use of resources.
  • Working collaboratively with internal teams, external partners, developers and stakeholders to maximise community benefits and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Supporting organisational change, workforce development and continuous improvement initiatives.

About You

You will be a qualified civil engineering professional with substantial experience within roads, transportation or infrastructure services.

You should possess:

  • HND, Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Chartered or Incorporated membership of a relevant professional body such as ICE, CIHT or IHE.
  • Significant experience within roads, transportation or infrastructure engineering.
  • Experience managing contracts, procurement activities and compliance with technical specifications.
  • Knowledge of relevant roads legislation, standards and codes of practice.
  • Experience of budget management, financial monitoring and audit processes.
  • Excellent communication, organisational and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong project management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Working knowledge of CAD/GIS and relevant design software.
  • Current driving licence.

Work pattern:

35 hours per week - Monday - Thursday: 08:45 - 16:45 (including a 55 minute unpaid break)

Friday: 08:45 - 16:15 (including a 50 minute unpaid break)

*For all casual/sessional roles, you will receive 12.1% of your hourly rate for every hour worked in total recompense for annual leave, including public holidays. These rates will be indicated separately on your payslip.  You will only be paid for the hours that you work.
