This webinar, hosted by CIHT North West, provides the opportunity to hear about the A533 Expressway Bridge Replacement scheme which won the Transportation Project of the Year (£5m+) in the CIHT North West Awards last year.
The A533 Expressway bridge replacement project involved constructing a new concrete bridge to replace the existing bridge over the M56 in Cheshire.
Situated between junctions 11 and 12, the bridge provides a vital connection for people living and working on both sides of the motorway. The existing bridge was built in 1971 and was replaced by a 67m two-span concrete bridge, consisting of a single two-lane carriageway and combined footpath and cycleway. The old bridge remained open whilst the new bridge was constructed, to help minimise disruption to traffic.
The presentation will cover the challenges faced by the integrated team, consisting of National Highways, Amey, Sir Robert McAlpine and WSP. Including an insight into how permanent and temporary combined into the delivery of this bridge replacement scheme along with insight into the complexity of using self-propelled modular transporters on an incline.
