Following directly on from the CIHT webinar on Creating Better Streets, this extra hour is an opportunity for our Strategic, Public Sector and Research & Education Partners to meet the speakers from PJA and Street Spirit Design.
Key points raised during the Creating Better Streets event will be discussed further and linked to the work being undertaken on Manual for Streets by CIHT and WSP.
Streets must be inclusive for all and consider how those with disabilities can navigate them. Streets must be, and feel, safe as well as fulfil the wider aims for both social and economic well-being.
Following directly on from the CIHT members webinar on Creating Better Streets, this extra hour is an opportunity for our Strategic, Public Sector and Research & Education Partners to meet the speakers from PJA and Street Spirit Design.
Delegates attending the Creating Better Streets webinar will learn more about how shared space design has developed from the initial concepts introduced by Jan Gehl and gain a better understanding about the issues, challenges and opportunities different communities find in living with shared space schemes. They will also be brought up to date on the latest position of the DfT and discuss the recent Transport Scotland Research Report Inclusive Design in Town Centres and Busy Street Areas.
CIHT has been awarded a grant by the Department for Transport to develop a revised Manual for Streets and WSP has been appointed to support the development of the new document. This new guidance will help our sector deliver better and healthier places for communities across the country.
In this CIHT Partners Meet the Speakers event, delegates and the guest speakers will discuss further the key points raised during the Creating Better Streets webinar and how the revision of Manual for Streets will align with active travel demands and sympathetic street design.
