CIHT recently held a "Chatham House" roundtable to bring together Department for Transport, Local Authority officials and bus sector. This roundtable discussion focused on the interaction between active travel and bus provisions, while also exploring the next steps to deliver a more joined up approach between active travel and buses.
CIHT have previous addressed the importance of buses, the infrastructure required and delivering bus services within Buses in Urban Development document.
Follow this, the Better Planning, Better Transport and Better Places document focused on the critical practical steps that can be taken to deliver effective integration of planning and transport. We are currently working with the Department for Transport to update Manual for Streets.
CIHT will continue to collaborate with government, professional bodies and stakeholders to facilitate a joined up approach within active travel and bus provisions.
CIHT is arranging a follow-up "Chatham House" roundtable discussion with the Department for Transport, Local Authority officials and bus sector.
