#StepForward Overview

Every time you recruit a new member, you strengthen CIHT. An active and growing membership means greater recognition of highways and transportation professionals, improved knowledge transfer, professional development and networking opportunities for members, and the advancement of the profession. So, why not reach out and share the same valuable opportunities with your colleagues?

Five ways to recommend CIHT

1. Send your own message

Your enthusiasm for CIHT is the most powerful message.  Remember to say that you will propose them to make application hassle free.  Below are some links and content which may help.  These include;

  • Useful links
  • Cut and paste emails
  • Examples of what you get as a member

2. Make it known that you would be happy to propose or second a colleague

We want to make it as hassle free for you and your colleagues.  Let your contacts know if they want to apply for Associate, Member or Fellow grade that you would be happy to be their proposer or seconder.

Being a Proposer or Seconder is easy and only takes a few minutes

When your colleague is applying please inform them of your member grade and your member number.  Plus provide them with a short statement written by you (min 100 and max 200 words) about their suitability for membership to support their application.

3. Share on social media

Active on social media?  Tell those working in the highways and transport sector within your network that you recommend CIHT and that you are happy to propose or second them.

You know your network best and your approach will be authentic and sincere.  However, if you need some inspiration see some ideas for social media below.

4. Let us do the work

Simply complete the form and provide us with contact information for an individual who is a candidate for membership and we will take the next step on your behalf. Please can you ensure that you have got consent from your colleague for us contacting them about membership.

5. Recommend us to talk to your team or organisation

Have over 10 people who could be interested in membership within your organisation.  We would be happy to arrange a presentation where we highlight the benefits of membership and answer any questions.
