CIHT are proud to host the Diversity & Inclusion panel debate on Thursday 8 November at 10.30am addressing ’Routes into the Profession‘ featuring leading professional women working in Highways & Transportation addressing overcoming the challenges of the industry.

The panel is chaired by Sue Percy, Chief Executive, CIHT and will feature CIHT members from across the UK including Louise McCann, General Manager, KierWSP – WICE Best Woman in Highways 2018; Melanie Clarke, Director of Customer Service, Highways England; Jodie Rowbottom, Head of Development, Birmingham Airport & Vice Chair, CIHT West Midlands and Nicola Blaney, Senior Engineer, Jacobs, CIHT Young Professional of the Year 2018. The panel will discuss diversity and equality issues within the sector such as addressing the gender pay gap, potential new legislation to ensure there is a more diverse workplace, discrimination in the workplace due to pregnancy and maternity leave and how gender stereotypes have evolved.

CIHT supports Tomorrow’s Engineers Week

Returning for the sixth year Tomorrow’s Engineers Week (#TEWeek18) takes place from 5 -9 November 2018 and aims to change perceptions of engineering among young people, their parents and teachers and to inspire future engineers.

This year the campaign forms part of the Year of Engineering and engineers featured focuses on topics young people care about including saving the environment, animal welfare, staying safe, health and entertainment. For more information, click here.
