Record temperatures across Europe have kept climate change at the centre of the news, with the United Nations Secretary General Antonio Guterres warning of an age of global boiling. Here in the UK, we are being challenged to deliver tough targets for greenhouse gas emission reductions from the transport system, amounting to cuts of circa 60% over the next decade.  

To support members, CIHT have created the Transport Decarbonisation Pathway a one stop shop for accessing guidance and CPD resources to help you develop the knowledge and skills to respond to this challenge. 

New material is added to our website all the time and recent highlights include case studies of all the shortlisted entries for the 2023 edition of CIHT’s prestigious Decarbonisation award, including the public/private alliance that has driven decarbonisation of a major programme of interim works in Birmingham, and new tools for analysing the carbon impact of design options and for tracking emissions linked highways authorities management and operation of their assets. 

Members can also access a whole host of best practice and events at the new launched Bus Centre of Excellence. This is a major Department for Transport funded initiative, led by CIHT.
