The Ministry of Housing Communities and Local Government in England has launched a series of important initiatives that support CIHT’s aim of Creating Better Places.
This week they have launched:
Andrew Hugill, Director of Policy and Technical Affairs, CIHT said:
“Creating Better Places is a key focus for CIHT and we welcome these proposals that aim at improving the planning and design of communities. Government has again recognised the importance of Manual for Streets, CIHT’s role in leading the development of the updated version and how it will play a key role in the final delivery of the framework. The inclusion of CIHT members on the board of the new Office for Place highlights the important role and influence our members have in this key area.”
“The updated NPPF was an opportunity to really push through the wider issues around decarbonisation – which we had called for in our earlier response. CIHT will be developing a future response to the Planning White paper to show how it must look to tackle decarbonisation and in particular the role sustainable transport will play. We look forward to working with government departments to ensure that happens.”

The proposals follow a consultation earlier in the year which CIHT responded to https://www.ciht.org.uk/media/14072/ciht-submission-nppf-and-nmdc-consulation-proposal.pdf
