The last few weeks have seen CIHT busy with various activities and stakeholder engagements. Below is a summary of some of the highlights:

We have launched our latest report on Building carbon reduction into procurement processes, a course on New Engineering Contract (NEC) case law, the November/ December 2023 edition of Transportation Professional and announced the shortlists for CIHT's Emerging Professional and the Apprentice of the Year Award.

External engagements have included CIHT's Policy Advisor, Dr. Isobel Wilson presenting CIHT's GBI paper and speaking on a panel on 'Why partnership working is key to transforming our streets' at Landor Links' Climate Resilient Streets.

A discussion with Department for Transport's Head of AI and Autonomy, Science, Innovation and Technology, Alex Mindell and Transport Data Strategy lead, Matt Coleman on CIHT's recommendations for a Transport AI Strategy.

Qualifications

We held our TPP - Portfolio of Technical Knowledge webinar for those looking to become a Chartered Transport Planning Professional (CTPP) via the Portfolio of Technical Knowledge (PTK) route.

Cat Goumal, Head of Education and Professional Development at CIHT gave a presentation on the launch of Engineers 2030 project at the Royal Academy of Engineering. 

Events

Recently, we have held our Road Safety Masterclass, and a roundtable with Bentley Systems that tackled the topic of how we pay for our roads moving forward.

Karen McShane, CIHT President chaired the TRICS conference and attended the RTPI Presidential dinner.

Vice-President Glenn Lyons hosted a fireside chat on Climate Action: Shared Goals, Different Forms, Personal Motivations.

Chief Executive, Sue Percy attended the MemCom CEO Lecture, ICE’s Carol Service and spoke at Women in Coach and Bus.

Cat Goumal, Head of Education and Professional Development at CIHT attended NEC’s Graduate and Apprentice of the year award (where she is a judge) and the Big Bang, Parliamentary reception.
