The Highways Agency has recently issued its Interim Advice Note (IAN 152/11) detailing the process for gaining an Road Safety Auditors Certificate of Competence and the requirement for at least one member of the Audit Team to hold a Certificate of Competence for all Audits on the Motorway and Trunk Road network within 2 years.  There are two routes available for those seeking to gain a Certificate of Competence – a Training Route and a Portfolio of Evidence Route.

SoRSA is bringing forward a process to provide auditors with the opportunity to gain a Certificate of Competence via the Portfolio of Evidence Route and will shortly be submitting its proposed procedures to both the Membership & Skills Strategy Board of CIHT and Highways Agency for approval.  Once agreement has been reached with both parties that this Route  is available, SoRSA will announce the arrangements for individuals to seek a Certificate of Competence.
