The Prime Minister, Rt Hon Andy Burnham MP (Lab, Makerfield) has announced his first cabinet following a ministerial reshuffle, after assuming office yesterday (20th July).  

Rt Hon John Healey MP (Lab, Rawmarsh and Conisbrough) has been announced as Chancellor of the Exchequer, and former Transport Secretary Rt Hon Louise Haigh MP (Lab, Sheffield Heeley) has been appointed as Cabinet Office Minister and the Dutchy of Lancaster.

CIHT welcomes the reappointment of Heidi Alexander MP as the Transport Secretary. 

Her recent contributions to the transport sector support the industry’s key role in driving economic growth, unlocking access to opportunity, and ensuring that our national infrastructure is maintained and fit for the future.  

Her continued tenure allows CIHT to build on the strong relationships and constructive engagement already established. We look forward to continuing our close collaboration with the Secretary of State and her department on the issues that matter most to our members and the wider transport profession.

The Transport Secretary has previously affirmed her commitment to continued collaboration with CIHT as we all work to deliver a transport system that better serves people and places across the country. 

CIHT looks forward to continuing to work with the Secretary of State for Transport and wider the Ministerial team at Department for Transport.
