We hope you will agree that the focus of our navigation and modern design reflects the dynamism of your region. CIHT professionals within the region are engaged in contributing to major infrastructure developments that are important to the regional and national economy.

In 2018 developments in your region include:

• The Transport Secretary announced that work starts in spring 2019 on the £3Bn programme to deliver faster services and improved capacity of the Transpennine 122km route between Manchester, Leeds and York.
• Passenger flights from Carlisle resumed after 25 years providing direct links to London, Belfast and Dublin. Journey times between London and the Lake District slashed as a new air route opens up between London and Carlisle.
• Transport for the North formally took up its statutory powers as England’s first ever sub national transport body. At an inaugural meeting in Liverpool, 19 local and combined authorities came together with business leaders to form a leadership board.

Success in the CIHT Awards 2018
