Outreach Ambassadors

CIHT Outreach ambassadors bridge the gap between education and industry, by volunteering their time to inspire and engage young people to learn more about (and achieve their potential in) STEAM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Math's).

Find out more below about how to join the CIHT Outreach ambassador network and share your own experiences of the highways & transportation sector to inspire a generation of future professionals.

What does becoming an Outreach ambassador mean?

Outreach ambassadors commit to running at least one activity per year, which can include giving career talks, leading hands-on workshops, mentoring students, careers fairs, or supporting school clubs and community groups such as the Girl Guides or Scouts. As long as the activity is STEAM-related and benefits young people between the ages of 5 and 19, then it counts.

As an Outreach ambassador, you can also share your own personal interests, skills, and real-world experiences within the highways and transportation sector and align what you know with the school curriculum with the support of schools and teachers.

Why volunteer as an Outreach Ambassador?

CIHT Outreach Ambassadors give young people the opportunity to meet inspiring role models who encourage them to continue studying STEAM subjects in school and help them to explore the applications of their studies in the wider world. They broaden career horizons, raise aspirations, and build an understanding of the role that STEAM subjects play in everyone’s lives.

As well as the many benefits for students and teachers, being an Outreach Ambassador can also benefit you because it is an enjoyable and rewarding thing to do. Volunteering to work with young people can build your confidence and presentation skills and help you see your own work from a different perspective.
