Veronica Yu

Veronica is a Senior Transport Planner at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar.

Veronica is a Senior Transport Planner at the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the State of Qatar. Her role at the Technical Affairs Department involves acting as His Excellency the Minister’s advisor to provide expert opinion on transport and communication-related matters and managing “special” strategic projects assigned by H.E. the Minister in line with the development of the transport and communications sectors’ vision, overarching policies and strategies.

Prior to working in Qatar, Veronica has worked in the UK for over 10 years heavily involved in development planning work for both the government and private sectors. Her experience ranges from project conceptualization, through all stages of the planning application process to the implementation of developments till site completion. 

She is also a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute.

Pedro Alves

Pedro currently plays a key corporate role for WSP whilst resident on-site at Hamad International Airport. His duties both technical and managerial cover a wide range of activities

Pedro currently plays a key corporate role for WSP whilst resident on-site at Hamad International Airport. His duties both technical and managerial cover a wide range of activities and particularly involve close liaison with the UK Project Director and teams both in the UK and ME. He has financial responsibility for these roles and the input of other required resources.
Pedro has led some multidisciplinary and diverse engineering and construction project teams throughout his 15-year career.
Prior to work in Qatar, Pedro has worked in Ghana as a Production Manager for the Development of Tamale Airport.
Pedro is also member of Ordem dos Engenheiros (Portuguese College of Engineers) since December 2001.

Paul Storey

Paul has over 30 years experience in Highways related activities in the UK, Australia and Qatar, including asset maintenance, operations, road safety, design and project management. He is currently working with Ashghal on Road Safety initiatives.

Melani is a qualified Road Safety Engineer with over 16 years’ experience in Transportation.
Her experience ranges from working in school and public transport planning to road safety auditing, road design and highway engineering within the Rail sector.

Kamal has 19 years of experiences mainly in Transportation / Highway / Railway design and construction supervision projects in Bangladesh, Bahrain and Qatar.

Kamal is a Civil Engineer graduated from RUET, Bangladesh in 1998. He has 19 years of experiences mainly in Transportation / Highway / Railway design and construction supervision projects in Bangladesh, Bahrain and Qatar. He worked for several very high-level Transportation / Highway design projects. He is a life fellow of IEB, Bangladesh and Grade “A” Engineer, MME Qatar. He is Design Manager - Senior Transportation / Highway Engineer for Seero Engineering Consulting LLC, Qatar.

Khalil Khan

Khalil has a master’s degree in Transport Planning and Engineering from Napier University, Edinburg. He is currently working as a Traffic Engineer at Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in the State of Qatar for almost 5 years. His technical expertise spans across traffic modelling and operational analysis, traffic impact studies, route planning of public transport system, work zone traffic management schemes, highway and junction capacity analysis and intersection design. He has also been representing Ashghal in Traffic Management Committee of the Central Planning Office in the MMUP.

Prior to joining Ashghal, Khalil worked in the UK for 7 years with a private consultancy. He worked as a Transport Planner on small to large scale projects with UK’s local authorities, Transport for London and Highways Agency. His modelling experience was used in support of planning applications as well as for highway design and management

Sarah Jackson

Sarah Jackson works in the Land and Transport Planning Department of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

Prior to working for the Ministry, Sarah worked and managed a range of planning projects such as freight, bicycle, public transport, travel plans, autonomous vehicles, accessibility and concept/detailed road designs for engineering consultancy firms located in Qatar, Australia and the UK. In her current role as a technical reviewer, Sarah is involved in the development of the Qatar Trip Generation and Parking Manual and the Package 1 data collection studies required for the update of the Transportation Master Plan for Qatar.

Uttam Bala

Uttam Bala is currently working as Traffic Management/Road Safety Audit Engineer with EGIS group

Uttam Bala is currently working as Traffic Management/Road Safety Audit Engineer with EGIS group on a multi-billion Dollar Doha Expressway Project. His role and responsibility includes Carrying out regular road safety audits for the temporary traffic diversions to ensure all traffic diversions are maintained in a safe clean condition for the road users, Ensure that the contractor is adhering to the approved TDP at all times and any changes initiated by the designer/client are coordinated logged and issued to the contractor, Supervise contractors during all TTM functions, such as implementation, maintenance and decommissioning stages etc.

Previously, he worked as ITS Engineer and was responsible for the concept and detailed design of the ITS system in many highways of Qatar. Also he was responsible for the implementation of ITS designs during construction of P11 Expressway (G-Ring Road) project in Qatar.

Prior to working in Qatar, Uttam Bala has worked in India for over 7years and involved in conducting Road Safety Audits during design, construction and pre-opening stages, Formulation of Master Plan for the Indian National Expressway Network, preparation of Detailed Project reports, analyzing traffic studies and future traffic. Uttam Bala has total of 10years of professional experience.

Polyxeni Papapanagiotou

Poly is a professional Civil Engineer, with over 18 years of working experience in Europe and the Gulf area in the construction industry and Occupational Health and Safety field.  She has been a qualified Road Safety Auditor and currently working as Road Safety Engineer with SALFO at Public Works Authority (Ashghal) in Qatar.

Arshad Khan

Arshad is an international Chartered Traffic Engineering and Road Safety Specialist with thirty years’ experience; currently working with Egis Group as a Supervision Consultant in Qatar.

Arshad is an international Chartered Traffic Engineering and Road Safety Specialist with thirty years’ experience; currently working with Egis Group as a Supervision Consultant in Qatar. He is responsible for reviewing and approving all Road Safety and Traffic Management schemes on a multi-billion Dollar Doha Expressway Project.

Previously, he was responsible for setting up a local Traffic Safety Unit, capacity building team building, coaching, on the job training and transfer of road safety, traffic and highway engineering knowledge to the local municipality staff in Saudi Arabia.

In the UK, he was Head of Road Safety and Traffic Engineering teams in London and Basingstoke. He has extensive experience of identifying, investigating, planning, prioritising, consulting, designing, implementing and monitoring of traffic and transportation schemes. 

In addition, he has conducted more than 500 Road Safety Audits (mostly as a Team Leader) in the Middle East and UK.

Pejman Dehdezi

Pejman is a Chartered “Pavement Specialist” currently working at Fugro.

His role includes Project Management, Pavement design, evaluation and review for highways, airport and port projects; Materials specification, Pavement failure investigation, Research and consultancy in pavements and materials, Asset management and Preparation of factual and interpretative technical reports. 

He has a doctorate in Pavement Engineering from the University of Nottingham, UK and has been contributing to several published articles and has presented at a range of professional conferences. Prior to working in Qatar, Pejman has worked in the UK for over 10 years at University of Nottingham, AECOM, JACOB and SWECO, involved in research and pavement design and consultancy.

Kanagaraj Muthiah

Kanagaraj is a civil engineer and project manager with over 18 years of experience in the field of Highways, Transport and Infrastructure Engineering Design. He possesses track record of delivering major design projects and Design & Build Projects of Highways, Expressways, Hill roads, Urban roads, Bypasses, Intersections & Interchanges and associated infrastructure.

 

Over the years, he played range of key roles including Head of Road Section, Technical Head, Project Manager and demonstrated as an effective leader with in-depth domain knowledge. He produced consistent successful results as a dedicated well-organized Manager, who is able to effectively solve problems and ensure timely & quality deliveries.

 

Kanagaraj operates at a senior level and experienced building and leading multifunctional teams and mentoring staff. Kanagaraj has been monitoring and contributing continually to improve Quality Management System in his past and present roles. He has experience in business development, steered efforts in bidding and achieved substantial progress in D&B bids. Kanagaraj worked for local and international clients including public authorities and private developers and contractors and built ethical reputation.

Paul Marmion

Paul has a Masters Degree in Civil Engineering from Queens University in Belfast. He is currently working as a Project Manager and Road Safety Engineer with Duffy Consulting Engineers (DCE) in Doha, Qatar.

DCE specialise in Traffic Engineering and Road Safety services. He has carried out Road Safety Audits on various types of projects such as large expressway projects, local roads, traffic diversion plans, school zones and rail projects in Qatar and Bahrain.

He is a member of the Chartered Institute for Highways and Transportation (CIHT), the Society of Road Safety Auditors (SoRSA) and a Project Management Professional (PMP) with the Project Management Institute.
