Act on Your Continuing Professional Development

What activities do I need to do?

Act on your plan by undertaking at least 25 hours of CPD activity in any one year (averaged over 3 years) and record your CPD activities.

CPD can be any activity which will contribute to your learning and development within Highways & Transportation.

Every member’s professional journey is different and your CPD may involve a range of activities from informal learning to structured activities.  Examples of activities which may result in CPD (but are not limited to) include:

  • Mentoring
  • In-house courses
  • On-the-job training
  • External seminars and events
  • Reading and Preparing Technical Papers
  • Professional Body Activities
  • Relevant Voluntary Work

CIHT arranges a number of CPD events at a national and regional level. For more details please see our events listing

Transport Advice Portal

The Transport Advice Portal (TAP) is a joint venture involving the Department for Transport (DfT) and CIHT.  TAP provides a paper-free technical library devised to help you find a source of documents you need when planning, designing and operating road networks in the UK. The portal acts as a one-stop-shop depository of web links to core documents produced by a range of organisations.
