SoRSA Certificate of Competency Application – revised

Applicants must complete the form as stipulated for a Certificate of Competency (CoC) awarded by SoRSA using the Portfolio of Evidence Route as defined in the DMRB GG 119 Road Safety Audit and submit by e-mail to: membership@ciht.org.uk

You can download the application form here: CoC Application Form

To assist candidates in completing their CoC application, guidance notes have been prepared, these can be downloaded here: CoC Application Guidance Notes

An applicant is required to provide a Portfolio of Evidence based on the requirements set out in the DMRB GG 119 Road Safety Audit Standard (or latest equivalent). The Portfolio should be sufficiently detailed to ensure that the SoRSA Membership Committee can determine the application and fully satisfy the requirements of the Standard.

From December 2013 to be compliant, EC Directives require at least one member of a Road Safety Audit Team to hold a Certificate of Competency (CoC) when undertaking a Road Safety Audit on the Trans-European network which includes much of UK Motorway and Trunk Roads.

The assessment and certification processes developed by SoRSA have been formally approved by National Highways.

CIHT, through SoRSA, is consequently in a position to award CoCs via the Portfolio of Evidence Route to applicants who demonstrate the necessary understanding, experience and expertise. As with SoRSA membership, access to the CoC is open to CIHT members and non-members.

Certification does not require renewal.
