Provided by CIHT Cymru Wales, this presentation will talk about Engineers for Overseas Development (EFOD).
Looking at the current work that is being completed by the Wales and South West branch in Uganda and how Covid influenced how it performed, this event is for all people interested in international development and sustainable development.
Being projects that are entirely funded by fundraising and run from design through to construction by volunteers, our speakers will cover the challenges faced and the impact it has had on the community and the school.
This will be followed by a Q&A session.
Graduate Civil Engineer working within the infrastructure and drainage team in Cardiff. Most recently acted as client representative for a major earthworks and drainage scheme on the A40 following a landslip south of Brecon in 2020. This scheme was recognised by the client for its strong commitment to maintainability, setting the bar for future schemes in the area.
Worked with EFOD Wales since 2021, developing the potable water strategy for Faith School with colleagues from Arup. Following this remote site supervision was carried out working with our site manager out in Uganda to construct three classrooms and a canteen.
Project Manager for EFOD Cardiff branch leading the team on the most recent project for Faith School. Recently published an ICE journal proceeding about the project and the remote site supervision of Phase 1.
Currently working full time for Mott MacDonald as a Geotechnical Engineer, acting as Assistant Geotechnical Design Site Representative for Phase 1 High Speed 2 Area North. Currently managing geotechnical construction phase support for all earthworks, underbridges and overbridges spanning approximately 40km.
