LGBT+ History Month is a chance to shed new light on the history of Lesbian, Gay, Bi and Trans people in the UK.
To celebrate the LGBT+ History Month we have collated a series of related webinars highlighting the individuals and activities working to make the sector, the transport network and the places a home for every part of LGBT+ community.
We were fortunate enough to be joined by the inspiring Karen McShane who transitioned to a woman whilst living in Belfast and working within the highways and transportation sector. Following starring in the Channel 4 documentary "The Making of Me" Karen joins us to discuss her journey to find herself along with struggles and barriers she came up against along the way.
Sue Percy, CEO of CIHT interviews Karen in an open setting so that you get involved in the conversation and put your questions to Karen. The second half of the webinar presents ground-breaking research on the perceptions and experiences of women in transport.
This webinar covers an Arup project about “Queering public spaces” to mark IDAHOBIT (International Day Against Homophobia, Transphobia and Biphobia). It looks at access to and safety in public space, as well as making recommendations for queering public space in order to make it much more inclusive and welcoming for all.
This webinar, organised by CIHT West Midlands, looks at inclusive design and perspectives on how we can try to understand the underlying processes that impact the way people travel.
In this session, Richard Adams and Lindsey Stack from Atkins, present the findings from their research and offer new perspectives to ensure everyone can access opportunities through the schemes we design.
Led by CIHT South West's Exeter Emerging Professionals Group, this webinar looks at the recent and substantial Covid-induced decline in rail travel in the UK.
